wonder your life is so screwed up!
Now
here is how I would do.."
Oh Mother,
please get a life!! But to be totally fair, Mother may actually 'THINK'
that she is doing you a favor by passing along her 'GOOD' advice.
This type
of Mother personality generally renders advice based on her life's experiences
- from marriage issues to childbirth. In turn, she tends to judge your
life by her life. If she failed, so will you. If she was successful,
you can be too BUT only if you heed her sage advice. If she had an ugly
time giving birth to your lover, Danny, then you can expect the same. If
she had an ill experience with her daughter, Brenda and her new car - then
you should expect the same should you purchase this make and model. It
doesn't matter that Brenda didn't remember to put oil in the car.
But before
you are swift to totally reject this 'GOOD' advice, ask yourself, "How
successful is Mother?"
If the
answer is, "Pretty darn successful!" then it might be to your advantage
to lend a willing ear. If the answer is, "She's counting on winning
the lotto to finance her retirement," then you're probably going to do
as well using your own wings to fly than her's.
Many times,
no matter how good or how bad the advice from Mother might be, you just simply
don't want it. It definitely opens the door on your relationship with
her offspring, putting it on a new level. She may also look at you in
a different light, thinking that unless she advises you, you'll never make it
in life. And at this point, what's not good for you isn't going to be
good for her grown baby.
Therefore,
sometimes the best advice is no advice. And that makes your life filled
with just a little less 'hail' each day....
